Weekend Recap...A Day Late

So this weekend was very busy!  Saturday we decided we wanted to venture out on a shopping trip.  We were being very brave on this one because the shopping center we were going to was an hour away and we had several stores we wanted to go to inside the shopping center.  So we left right after feeding Rhett, stopped for muffins, drove to the shopping center and nursed him before going inside.  We were able to go to every store we planned but while in the last store he started screaming so daddy had to stay and check out while Rhett and I went out to the car to nurse again.  After that we drove home, stopping on the way for lunch for daddy and I.  Overall. Rhett did really well!  I am very proud!

Sunday we did Target and the grocery store and of course football.  Our team's game wasn't on TV so we went to my sister's house to watch it in the evening because they have the special program that plays all the games and they recorded the game for us.

At my sister's house something else happened...

we gave Rhett his first bottle. :(  I put a sad face because he took the bottle no problem and downed the milk so fast!  We gave him 3 ounces and he drank all of that plus I nursed him for a little bit after.  Like I said my boy can eat and loves his momma's milk!  I was a bit sad because I felt like when I nursed him that was our special time together and the fact he didn't even miss me made me a little emotional.  Plus they say for the momma not to be in the room when the bottle is first introduced so I didn't even get to watch the whole thing go down!  Luckily I had my sister be paparazzi so I didn't miss the opportunity to have the whole thing documented!

Rhett was already hungry and didn't want to wait for pictures to be taken.

Taking the bottle no problem!

Didn't seem to be missing me at all :(

What a big boy!

The best part of the whole experience was that my hubby loved doing it and can't wait to do it again!  I guess that's the sacrifice I made for him.

Like I said, busy, busy weekend but lots of fun because we are all together and I love that!

1 Month Old

Well I realize this post should have happened on Friday but hey the title of the post says it all, 1 Month Old, meaning not a lot of free time.  We also had a very busy weekend!

On to the point of the post...on Friday, September 27th Rhett James turned 1 month old!  I can't believe how fast time flies.  I know that sounds so cliche and it really is when everyone else says it but when you have your own child, the saying takes on a whole new meaning.  There are definitely those days that seem to drag, not fly, but when you look at the whole picture, it really does fly!

I really am trying to be good at this picture thing and documenting everything so here are some of his 1 month pictures I took.

Isn't he the most adorable 1 month old you've ever seen?!

Look at that face...I die!

He's getting so big and in this picture you can see how long he is!

Then mommy wanted a picture with her handsome boy...and he didn't really want one with her.

So we took a bunch instead :)

My mom got these stickers for me at one of my baby showers.  They are so adorable and sort of go with the theme of his nursery (which I will have to share sometime).

These hands are always by his face.

Again, look how long he's getting!  Stop growing Rhett!

Needless to say I am obsessed with this kid!

So at 1 month he weighs 8 lbs. 5 oz. and is 20 1/2 inches long!  He is beginning to enjoy his baths although he hates getting ready for them and really hates getting out (maybe he's cold :/), but the being in the bath part is better (he doesn't scream every time anymore).  Just in the last week he's become so much more alert.  I feel like he's recognizing me and my voice more (which I must say makes my heart sing...happy momma here!).  Oh and does he LOVE to eat or what!  Boy is packing on the pounds now!  He doesn't love tummy time but I try every day.  I like to lay him down and read to him and he likes it too on occasion.  I am in love with his face! He has the best lips ever and they are so animated!  He makes the cutest faces.  He makes this face that we call the Dr. Evil face.  Him and I are getting used to this breastfeeding thing although sometimes we still struggle.  He has some gas problems and gets fussy in the evenings but I get him happy all day until then.  Overall, this month has flown by and I am loving the whole experience.  It's tough, and challenging, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

I love you Rhett James!  Happy 1 month birthday!

Welcome to Mommyhood

Well let me start by saying that nothing welcomes you to the journey of mommyhood like very little sleep (maybe 3 hours), sore nipples, a gassy fussy baby that you're forced to take on a walk just to get him to sleep, all with your hair undone, no makeup, and pee down the front of your shirt. I know in my moments of weakness (and possible flood of hormone filled tears) I probably am not saying this, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
Ok enough ranting, nobody said it would be easy (and don't get me wrong I never, ever thought it would be).

Let's talk about my little peanut. I may have a slight obsession with buying him cute outfits. Especially the holiday type. The little holiday pajamas just melt my heart! I can't get enough of them!

It probably helps that my little peanut is so adorable as well!

Another thing we've been obsessed with is Rehtt's outrageous cuteness in his Bronco gear. They played this Monday (and won) so we had him in his outfit.  As I was trying to take pictures of him in his outfit he kept doing this:

As if he were saying "TOUCHDOWN!!!"

It was so cute.  From the moment he was born he's had what we call 'party arms'.  He likes to throw them up all the time (even at night or nap time when he's fast asleep and they have the ability to wake him from a dead sleep).

He also loves sleeping with his hand by his face.

It's adorable...melts my heart.

So on my emotional rollercoaster I ride...welcome to mommyhood!
And yet I couldn't be happier!

Introducing Rhett James

Since my little man was my inspiration to start this blog I thought I should begin by introducing him.

Rhett was born 2 weeks early at 38 weeks.  It was the most spectacular thing I've ever experienced.  And the labor (which I'll do a post about on a later date) was not as bad as what I was anticipating.  Everyone talks about how awful their experiences were, you know their horror stories, which makes you scared shitless by the time your 30 weeks because you don't want to go through something that awful.  Well I think every birth is different and people should stop scaring the shit out of pregnant women.

I will tell you my husband was quite the trooper.  Much more supportive than I thought he would be.  Sorry but my husband just isn't good in circumstances where people are in pain or distress.  He's way too sarcastic!

Our little man was tiny when he was born.  I called him my little peanut even before he was born and it's true, he is my little peanut born at just 6 lbs. 3 oz. and 19 3/4 in.  He's already growing like a weed though and I miss him being tiny (and easier to nurse without all of that strength he's aquired).

I loved him the moment I first saw him!

And seeing my husband with him just melted my heart.  I knew he would be an amazing dad and seeing him with our little man just solidified that thought.

Instant love!

So there you have it!  Our little peanut and the most amazing thing that ever happened to us!

A New Journey

So excited to be documenting this new journey called motherhood.  I always knew I wanted to be a mom and have lots of kids (meaning 4) but little did I realize how amazing the whole experience was going to be.  First of all it's still a very new experience for me (my little man is only 3 weeks old), but it has been such an amazing experience so far!

It all started when we found out I was pregnant.  I had pinned ideas to document my pregnancy on Pinterest months, maybe even years, before I actually got pregnant.  It was something I couldn't wait to experience!  So as soon as I found out I began documents with pictures and writing stuff down.  Now the writing stuff down didn't last very long and I can blame it on a million things (not enough time in the day, pregnancy exhaustion, indecisive about how or what I wanted to document, or pure laziness).  There were things I wish I had done to document the pregnancy to be able to look back on now but the way I see it I can use those different ideas on the next kid, so he/she doesn't feel left out.  Anyways I did a pretty good job documenting in pictures but sometimes I wish I had written stuff down.  So, that's where the idea for this blog comes in...

I want to be able to look back one day and see exactly when my little man hit certain milestones, what he looked like every week/month (depending on how good I am at this whole blog thing), what things/techniques I used with the first in case I don't remember when the second roles around (which let's face it I will probably forget), or just to see how silly obsessed I was with every detail of his life (because I already am so obsessed with him).

In short, I hope if anyone reads this they enjoy joining me on this new journey.  It's bound to be interesting, difficult at times, rewarding in so many ways, and possibly the most amazing, absolute best thing I have ever done!

Happiness is being a mom!
