Weekend Recap

This weekend was great!  My hubby had a four day weekend so I was excited for this weekend for a while.  Since he had a long weekend we decided to take advantage of it and planned a trip up to my family's cabin in the mountains.  We left Friday morning and came back Monday afternoon.  It was AMAZING!!!

Now get ready for picture overload...
All snuggled up for the cold.

This new hat and mittens just killed me.  I couldn't stop snapping pictures and laughing.  He looks so pissed and so cute all at once!

"Mom what the hell are you doing to me?"

Then he fell asleep because he's all cozy and warm.  By the way we were in the little village walking around to all the shops and it started really cooling off so I bundled him big time!

I had to get a picture in his mountain moose pajamas!

Our friends came with us and their little girl was fascinated by Rhett.

She never liked pacifiers but she wanted his!

All stretched out in moose PJs.

And then a moose onsie!

Tried to get good pictures but it was a little chilly and I didn't want him outside for too long.

Especially without a hat!

Rhett and daddy, Rhett in his bear PJs that daddy admitted were his favorite on him.

Rhett was also fascinated by the sun and trees and sky, so no looking at the camera.

Getting ready to leave and I just thought he looked like such a big boy in this picture.  Makes me sad to see him grow so fast.

Best weekend! Can't wait for next weekend!

Mommy and Me

Well my weekend is just now ending so look for a weekend recap tomorrow because that's my Monday but for today I will share some Mommy and Me pictures.

We went to our family's cabin in the mountains this weekend (more details to follow on this later) and had a great time and took some cute pictures, although not as many as I wanted.

I desperately wanted pictures of him in his super cute moose onsite. He would not look at the camera and stared intently at me...I think it was the beanie, he's not used to seeing his mommy in a hat.

So then I was laughing at him and my hubby caught this cute picture. Love it!

I also wanted pictures of him in his adorable bear thermal onsite. This time he found something else interesting to look at that wasn't the camera.

Looking at these pictures make me realize how big he is getting and it makes me both sad and excited. Stop growing baby boy!

Happy Monday (my Sunday)!

6 Weeks Old

Today Rhett is 6 weeks old. I can't believe he is already 6 weeks! Totally cliché but man does time fly. I know I'm not going back to work yet because I'm using the FMLA time we can have but I can't imagine some people actually go back to work at this point. I could never leave my little peanut yet (but I'm a little overattached).

He is becoming so much more alert and staying awake for longer periods of time.  It's fun to see him change every day.  I feel like any day he may start making noises (other than screaming or crying), but that could be just me hoping.

He refused to look at me the whole time I was taking his pictures.

On another note, we had a very interesting bath time tonight.  First, daddy said the bath was ready but when I walked in, it wasn't quite ready so my naked little peanut peed all over the wall next to the toilet...hilarious!

Then we put him in and started our routine when the dog decided to help.  This was cute so we decided to take some pictures.  Then something happened....

the dog found the leopard print rubber duck on the ledge and wouldn't let it out of her sight.  She is a bird hunting dog but she is also a little crazy...exhibit A:

This was entertaining, but it gets better.

I continue to bathe him and all of a sudden I see something by his butt...yup he shit in the tub...I mean really let loose.  I started to panic but then gathered myself, got my hubby's help, and got him out of that mess.

It was all very entertaining and a great end to the day.  Let me just say though that hubby did not like cleaning up the shitting bathtub.  Thanks babe!

Happy 6 weeks Rhett and happy Tuesday to everyone else!

Week Wrap Up

This week was crazy busy!

Monday my aunt came up to see Rhett.  She brought my cousin's little boy with her and he was all over the place.  Makes me enjoy this somewhat quiet time I have with Rhett right now.

Tuesday Rhett and I brought Daddy lunch at work.  It was a way to get out and also a way to see my hubby during the day.  I strategically planned his outfit for this trip...you like??  Daddy did!

Wednesday Rhett and I went to a Mommy and Me group a friend told me about.  I really enjoyed it and plan on going back again next week.  They have a lot of experts there that you can ask questions about whatever you're wondering about.  And then there's moms going through the same thing that can chime in too.  It's nice.  Plus they have a scale where you can weigh your baby before and after a feeding.  Needless to say Rhett is doing well in the eating department and is getting way too big too fast!  Rhett had fun (he nursed practically the whole time) and this is what he looked like when we got home.

Thursday he woke up entirely too early, and stayed awake, so I thought a Starbucks trip was in order.  So in our PJs, off we went to Starbucks.  Then we went to my mom's office and brought her a warm beverage.  After visiting for a while I took him home to nurse him and hang out.  Well when I got home he decided he wanted to sleep a little before eating which was perfect because it gave me just enough time to shower and get somewhat ready so that I could be productive after nursing him (we're still at the point where we plan everything around his feedings).  So after he ate and I finished getting ready I took him to my school to show him off to all of the office ladies and some of the teachers.  He didn't leave the office or his carseat because of germs and whatnot but it was nice that people got to see him.  From there we had just enough time to run home and grab me a quick lunch, nurse him, and head down the hill for my postpartum visit (which I wasn't happy about but I'll talk more on that later).  I have no pictures from this day because it was such a whirlwind!

Friday was our stay in our PJs all day and do nothing day.  It was much needed and very nice!  Rhett did get out of his PJs after spitting up on them, so he wore this cute number.

Now it's practically the weekend (I consider Friday after work part of the weekend) and Daddy and I were able to go to a nice steak dinner with Rhett.  He was good and slept the whole time (thank goodness).

I can't wait to spend all weekend with my two favorite guys!  Have a happy one!

Weekend Recap...A Day Late

So this weekend was very busy!  Saturday we decided we wanted to venture out on a shopping trip.  We were being very brave on this one because the shopping center we were going to was an hour away and we had several stores we wanted to go to inside the shopping center.  So we left right after feeding Rhett, stopped for muffins, drove to the shopping center and nursed him before going inside.  We were able to go to every store we planned but while in the last store he started screaming so daddy had to stay and check out while Rhett and I went out to the car to nurse again.  After that we drove home, stopping on the way for lunch for daddy and I.  Overall. Rhett did really well!  I am very proud!

Sunday we did Target and the grocery store and of course football.  Our team's game wasn't on TV so we went to my sister's house to watch it in the evening because they have the special program that plays all the games and they recorded the game for us.

At my sister's house something else happened...

we gave Rhett his first bottle. :(  I put a sad face because he took the bottle no problem and downed the milk so fast!  We gave him 3 ounces and he drank all of that plus I nursed him for a little bit after.  Like I said my boy can eat and loves his momma's milk!  I was a bit sad because I felt like when I nursed him that was our special time together and the fact he didn't even miss me made me a little emotional.  Plus they say for the momma not to be in the room when the bottle is first introduced so I didn't even get to watch the whole thing go down!  Luckily I had my sister be paparazzi so I didn't miss the opportunity to have the whole thing documented!

Rhett was already hungry and didn't want to wait for pictures to be taken.

Taking the bottle no problem!

Didn't seem to be missing me at all :(

What a big boy!

The best part of the whole experience was that my hubby loved doing it and can't wait to do it again!  I guess that's the sacrifice I made for him.

Like I said, busy, busy weekend but lots of fun because we are all together and I love that!

1 Month Old

Well I realize this post should have happened on Friday but hey the title of the post says it all, 1 Month Old, meaning not a lot of free time.  We also had a very busy weekend!

On to the point of the post...on Friday, September 27th Rhett James turned 1 month old!  I can't believe how fast time flies.  I know that sounds so cliche and it really is when everyone else says it but when you have your own child, the saying takes on a whole new meaning.  There are definitely those days that seem to drag, not fly, but when you look at the whole picture, it really does fly!

I really am trying to be good at this picture thing and documenting everything so here are some of his 1 month pictures I took.

Isn't he the most adorable 1 month old you've ever seen?!

Look at that face...I die!

He's getting so big and in this picture you can see how long he is!

Then mommy wanted a picture with her handsome boy...and he didn't really want one with her.

So we took a bunch instead :)

My mom got these stickers for me at one of my baby showers.  They are so adorable and sort of go with the theme of his nursery (which I will have to share sometime).

These hands are always by his face.

Again, look how long he's getting!  Stop growing Rhett!

Needless to say I am obsessed with this kid!

So at 1 month he weighs 8 lbs. 5 oz. and is 20 1/2 inches long!  He is beginning to enjoy his baths although he hates getting ready for them and really hates getting out (maybe he's cold :/), but the being in the bath part is better (he doesn't scream every time anymore).  Just in the last week he's become so much more alert.  I feel like he's recognizing me and my voice more (which I must say makes my heart sing...happy momma here!).  Oh and does he LOVE to eat or what!  Boy is packing on the pounds now!  He doesn't love tummy time but I try every day.  I like to lay him down and read to him and he likes it too on occasion.  I am in love with his face! He has the best lips ever and they are so animated!  He makes the cutest faces.  He makes this face that we call the Dr. Evil face.  Him and I are getting used to this breastfeeding thing although sometimes we still struggle.  He has some gas problems and gets fussy in the evenings but I get him happy all day until then.  Overall, this month has flown by and I am loving the whole experience.  It's tough, and challenging, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

I love you Rhett James!  Happy 1 month birthday!

Welcome to Mommyhood

Well let me start by saying that nothing welcomes you to the journey of mommyhood like very little sleep (maybe 3 hours), sore nipples, a gassy fussy baby that you're forced to take on a walk just to get him to sleep, all with your hair undone, no makeup, and pee down the front of your shirt. I know in my moments of weakness (and possible flood of hormone filled tears) I probably am not saying this, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
Ok enough ranting, nobody said it would be easy (and don't get me wrong I never, ever thought it would be).

Let's talk about my little peanut. I may have a slight obsession with buying him cute outfits. Especially the holiday type. The little holiday pajamas just melt my heart! I can't get enough of them!

It probably helps that my little peanut is so adorable as well!

Another thing we've been obsessed with is Rehtt's outrageous cuteness in his Bronco gear. They played this Monday (and won) so we had him in his outfit.  As I was trying to take pictures of him in his outfit he kept doing this:

As if he were saying "TOUCHDOWN!!!"

It was so cute.  From the moment he was born he's had what we call 'party arms'.  He likes to throw them up all the time (even at night or nap time when he's fast asleep and they have the ability to wake him from a dead sleep).

He also loves sleeping with his hand by his face.

It's adorable...melts my heart.

So on my emotional rollercoaster I ride...welcome to mommyhood!
And yet I couldn't be happier!

Introducing Rhett James

Since my little man was my inspiration to start this blog I thought I should begin by introducing him.

Rhett was born 2 weeks early at 38 weeks.  It was the most spectacular thing I've ever experienced.  And the labor (which I'll do a post about on a later date) was not as bad as what I was anticipating.  Everyone talks about how awful their experiences were, you know their horror stories, which makes you scared shitless by the time your 30 weeks because you don't want to go through something that awful.  Well I think every birth is different and people should stop scaring the shit out of pregnant women.

I will tell you my husband was quite the trooper.  Much more supportive than I thought he would be.  Sorry but my husband just isn't good in circumstances where people are in pain or distress.  He's way too sarcastic!

Our little man was tiny when he was born.  I called him my little peanut even before he was born and it's true, he is my little peanut born at just 6 lbs. 3 oz. and 19 3/4 in.  He's already growing like a weed though and I miss him being tiny (and easier to nurse without all of that strength he's aquired).

I loved him the moment I first saw him!

And seeing my husband with him just melted my heart.  I knew he would be an amazing dad and seeing him with our little man just solidified that thought.

Instant love!

So there you have it!  Our little peanut and the most amazing thing that ever happened to us!
